LJ did it again...

they changed the URL of their fugly default graphics (in the comment box, edit comments, locked/private icons, et cetera). So here's a heads-up for all of you who coded over them, like me.

img[src="http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/icon_protected.gif"] {
width: 0;
height: 0;
background-image: url(WHATEVER);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: top left;
padding: 0 16px 16px 0;
}

and

.ljcmt, .commentbox img[src="http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/btn_edit.gif"]{
height:0; width:0;
padding: 0 16px 16px 0; /* the suggested height and width of tiny-icons is 16px */
background: url(WHATEVER);
}

change the p-stat to l-stat and it'll fix. I'm trying to figure out what is going on with the headers, anyone up on that yet?

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

better yet change it to img[src*="image.gif"] where image is the name of the targeted image.

no more hassle with LJ changing its urls ;) (but note that it's CSS3 so if your browser doesn't follow those standards it won't work)

Thank you for this. I thought I was going crazy when my CSS stopped working and I hadn't even changed it in months. ♥

What's odd is that some of my journals are reacting to the change, others are not. Anyone have any ideas? [info]diziara, [info]usstakedashingn and [info]starbase668 all work just fine with customer user info icons still, and I haven't changed a scrap of CSS, but [info]kittenofdeath and [info]jrmisstoughchic don't work correctly.

I'm not overly worried about it yet, as the journals having issues are my RPG journals, and I don't care enough to actually log into them (usually only post from Deepest Sender, and don't actually log into the accounts much). It just seems very very odd.

Also, [info]pensive1, your user icon is awesome. :D

I'm guessing because on [info]kittenofdeath and [info]jrmisstoughchic the background-image specified via .ljuser img doesn't load. (404 here)

usually you won't notice that because this part of CSS is only for IE6, who doesn't understand the other parts with the square brackets.

thanks for pointing this out. I didn't even notice comms showing as regular users on my layout.

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I just tinkered with my layout like, an *hour* before they changed the links so I was like, BUZZUH? It was working one minute and then wasn't the next! Augh!

Thank you! It was driving me mad that my padding around those icons had suddenly changed.

A couple of days ago, I changed my CSS according to this post and everything worked fine (thank you for that) until about an hour ago when all of a sudden I'm stuck with the ugly default lock. Can you point me in the direction as to what is up with that? Thank you in advance! :)

How nice of them... I know it's a small detail, but LJ is rather annoying when it comes to stuff like that. *sigh* Especially since I haven't changed anything since last night and the code you've provided above is working again.

Yeah it really annoyed me. Last night's LJ Releases post showed how they were switching database servers or some such thing. BAH!
